英文單字(20)《serve 保存》

「serve」直接當單字時是「服務」的意思，當作衍生字時就會變成「保存」的動作。有些衍生字仍維持「服務」的意思使用，但為了方便記憶，選擇使用數量較多的「保存」。

serve 服務、提供(v.)、發球(n.)

conserve 保藏、節約(v.)、蜜餞(n.)

保守的可以想成把節約的行為套用在人身上。

reserve 預定(v.)、預留(n.v.)

預定、預留可以當作放回後面保留著以供未來使用。

reservation 預定(n.)

I'd like to make a table reservation for two people for nine o'clock.

preserve 保護、保藏(v.)、蜜餞(n.)

這個字和「conserve」的意思很像，保護、保存可以做為預先留存防患未然，蜜餞也可以當作先保存發酵後才有的產物。這個字與「conserve」的差異在於多了「保護」的動作。
